"Please draw a picture or symbol that represents you."  That was the short instruction I gave the group of twelve educators who had come together from three continents for the course, 'Educating for the 21st Century'.
On May 2-9, 2010, I was one of sthe students from St. Leo University in Florida, U.S.A. to visit Costa Rica for a graduate class in global business management.
I finished my graduate program in international educaion in the summer of 2002. One key take-away that 'stuck' with me is that schooling in most countries had been modeled on an industrial-age factory!
Oliver Rizzi Carlson reports back after participating in 2007's Non-Profit Leadership course, where he researched and designed a unique University Peacebuilding Center for the University for Peace "Our group was really able to get an idea of the issues and challenges that are facing Costa Rica as a whole, while also seeing the amazing opportunities that are available there, from multi-national corporations to community health and conservation groups" a short description of the Business Week the MBA students from the University of Maryland lived in Costa Rica!
Julia Delafield found the answer at December's Non-Profit Leadership course. Read the rest of her story! For anyone who has not yet been able to take a CEE course, you may wonder: what actually happens in and out of the classroom? Courtney Joy Lawrence, one of 16 graduates of last month's Corporate Social Responsibility course near San Jose, Costa Rica, takes you through the three-day program from the inside.

"I felt overwhelmed by and curious about the rapid change I was living in. When I looked critically at my concerns about the present and the coming future I couldn´t foresee a clear horizon for societies..." Beautiful and inspiring story by one of the Centre's alumni who's now a UPEACE student!

Imagine a global community where the money that national governments once spent outfitting their armies for war is now channeled into educational institutions, sustainable development projects, social and economic justice initiatives and universal peace and nonviolence training.  You'll find out what happens in this article written by one of the course's participants - worth reading!

A short beautiful description of the Non-Profit Leadership seminar held at the Universidad de La Paz’s campus in Ciudad Colon by one of it's participants. Enjoy!

The Nonprofit Leadership Seminar is grounded in the belief that when people have an opportunity to come together with other likeminded professionals and reflect on their practice in a structured, pedagogically innovative and dynamic environment, transformative learning can take place.
